A few years ago I watched Jerry Seinfeld’s ‘Comedians in Cars getting Coffee’ episode with Barack Obama. (side-note: if you haven’t watched it yet, head over there right now and watch it!). In this episode Jerry and Barack banter about what it is like to lead a country in the funniest of ways. Interestingly, it was the fun that lead to real insights. Their conversation felt unscripted, open and real. This made me think, which leader would I love to talk to about their way, their challenges, hopes, fears and lessons learnt. Immediately 10 names popped in my mind. Right after the initial popping, amazing cars paraded through my mind that would perfectly suit these leaders. And like that, “Leaders in Cars getting Coffee” was born. We tried it out with our friend and business partner David Marquet and just had a blast. It was so much fun and even the film crew loved our conversation.
We conduct each ride with the utmost respect for Jerry and his original vision. We’re just amateurs, making no profit from these episodes, other than heaps of personal growth. To really deep dive into the conversations and not circle in shallow waters, we offer each guest the right to veto the publication of their ride. No reason needed. Too personal? Didn’t like the car? Felt your nose looked bad in VR? We pull the episode out of respect for our guests. They are in the driver’s seat…metaphorically speaking. We’d rather have a great ride that never sees the light of day, than a boring one that’s published.
In summary, we hope you enjoy these rides into the minds of some of the most resourceful humans known to me. If you’d love to be a guest, or think of someone who you’d love to see ride with us, please feel free to reach out to us – we’d love to hear from you.
